Keyword Research and Analysis - 5 Tips to Effective SEO Keyword Research Analysis
Keyword research and analysis can be a daunting task, when done correctly, and expert keyword research is the foundation to a successful SEO campaign. Many new website owners think the keyword research analysis process is easy. They think free tools, such as the Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool is the profit pill that will bring them instant results.
Unfortunately, the free tools will only give you a rough guide and a quick indication whether a hunch is worth further research. These free keyword research tools are limited to basic information. When performed correctly, expert keyword research exposes so much more - all the gems that are tucked away deep.
Real keyword research requires research AND analysis. There are so many aspects to the process that can not be left to chance. Attempting to do the keyword research on your own is like going to a veterinarian to fix your car. My advise to all clients I do SEO consulting services for is to simply leave this task to the experts who have the correct keyword research tools and expertise.
Following are 5 tips for effective keyword research analysis :
1. Latent Semantic Indexing - Use multi-word phrases
Latent Semantic Indexing is a vital element in Search Engine Optimization for better keyword rankings in search results. LSI is based on the relationship, the "clustering" or positioning, the variations of terms and the iterations of your keyword phrases.
Expertly knowing LSI and how it can be most useful and beneficial for your SEO and the importance it has with the algorithm updates to search engines like Google, MSN and Yahoo which will benefit your keyword research for best practice SEO.
LSI is NOT new. For those doing keyword research over the years always knew to use synonyms and "long tail" keyword terms which is a simpler "explanation" to LSI. More often than not, these long tail, less generic terms bring more traffic to your site than the main keyword phrases. The real bottom line is that Latent Semantic Indexing is currently a MUST in keyword research and SEO.
2. Page Specific Keyword Research - Target your niche keyword phrases for each site page
Probably the most common mistake in keyword research is using a plethora of keywords and pasting the same meta keyword tag on every web site page. This is SO not effective! Your keyword research needs to be page specific and only focusing on 2 to 5 keywords per page. It's more work, but combined with best practice SEO, gives each site page a chance for higher ranking on their own.
3. Country Specific Keyword Research and Search Engine Reference
Keep in mind that keyword search terms can be country specific. Even though a country is English speaking, there are different keyword terms you must research - and then reference that country's search engine when doing your initial keyword research. For instance, UK and Australia may have different expressions, terminology and spellings . Referencing the terms in the corresponding search engine is an important element to keyword research that is often forgotten, so for example, be sure to check the search terms on google.co.uk or au.yahoo.com. And of couse, if you have 3 to 4 really comprehensive research tools in your arsenal, you will be able to search for historical, global and country specific search terms easily and effectively.
4. Keyword Analysis - Cross referencing in the search engines
Once the majority of the keyword research has been done for a site page, it's time to plug those terms into the search engines to determine :
If it is really the desired niche keyword for that page
To assess the competitiveness of your keywords. Along with checking the competitiveness of your keywords you should look at the strength of the competition.
Are the other sites listed for your keywords truly your competitors?
Are the sites listed for your keyword even related to your industry, products or services?
These critical analyses of keyword phrases are often forgotten. Since the keyword research and analysis is the foundation of a successful SEO campaign, you certainly don't want to build your on-page optimization on the wrong niche keywords!
5. Ongoing Keyword Research - Repeat your keyword research on a consistent basis
While you may think that you have completed your keyword research analysis and laid a solid foundation for your SEO, you need to keep monitoring your keywords and tweak as necessary. Keywords can change from month to month as keyword search terms change, genres change and-or if your niche is within social portal networking sites - to name just a few. Maintaining ongoing keyword research is essential for best practice SEO.
Most Successful Strategy to Streamline Your Keyword Research Efforts:
Yes, many website owners will opt to do the keyword research and analysis themselves with only a marginal effect on an SEO campaign. It's not the most successful strategy to use to for the most effective results.
To be certain of your keyword data, accurate keyword analysis should be performed - and cross referenced - across multiple expert keyword tools.
Effective keyword research lays the ground work for effective SEO results and can help you kick-start the ranking process - perhaps even giving you a step up on your competitors.
The most successful strategy to streamline your keyword research efforts is to hire an expert. Focus your business efforts on your strengths and expertise and allow the SEO experts to effectively perform the keyword research analysis correctly.
SEO Keyword Research
Keyword Density
It is usually suggested to find 1 – 3 keywords for your content, but extensive research is required to find out which keyword is most searched for, after all its no point of optimizing your website for the keywords that no-one is searching for. So make sure you do your paperwork and jot down which keywords are most searched for and with less competition. Write as many keywords you think of, don’t just limit them. You should be able to build up several phrases from them. While thinking of any keyword search think about following
1. List down the purpose of your website. You will definitely find some words here.
2. What would you type in the search engine if you want to find out your website?
You can use Overture for your keyword research. This tool not only shows you how many searches have been made for a given keyword in past month but all shows you several alternatives for that keyword. The other keyword research tool I can suggest of is WORDTRACKER. Although they require subscription, but OVERTURE is completely free. Search engines like Google also provides with good recommendation tool although it does not indicate any popularity.
Measuring Competition for Keywords
After you are done with your keyword research for search engine optimization and short listed all phrases it’s now time to find out the competition involved with them. The best way to analyze competition is go to any search engine and type your keyword. This will show you number of results return.
In order to make this task easier use paper-based or excel worksheet as done below:
Keyword Term: keyword research article
Date of Search: __________
Top ranked site: _____________
Search result: 46,900,000
No of searches made in OVERTURE: X numbers
Likewise repeat the same procedure for your other phrases. This will help you to do various comparisons between several key terms and select the best niche keyword.
Applying Keywords to your content

SEO CodeBreaker - Topic 3 - Keyword Research
Well let's discuss the videos for Topic 3 of the upcoming SEO CodeBreaker. If people want to get search engine traffic and excellent SEO rankings then this section is the way to truly start it off. Topic 3 is, in my opinion, one of the most important facets of this program. Why? Because Keywords make or break a website. Google and every search engine uses them to generate website traffic by indexing relevant information based on the keyword used on said engine. Thus this part is essential. If you did your Market Research then you will know that this part is tightly knit to it. So if you want those SEO ratings in earnest then master building long tail as well as using short tail keywords.

- This is very important. Most people get their keywords on Adwords, settle down for a general term and then loose money instead of making money as they bid higher and higher. Charles teaches how to set up your keywords and create a database. But more importantly he teaches how to use misspellings to leverage your free website traffic.
5. How to use keywords in your sales copy and how to determine the best keywords in 24 hours or less. Learn how to weave your keywords into your sales copy for maximum exposure . Plus how to determine the absolute best keywords to use in 24 hours with a simple technique.

Keyword Research - SEO Quick Tips
Keyword Research is highly important for Search Engine Optimization. In fact, if your promoting a website without any targeted keywords, there’s a great chance that you will probably fail. So to avoid the failure of our website, it is important that we get the keyword part right.
#1 – Niche Research
First of all, we must make sure that we have a niche that has a high search volume. If no one is searching for our niche, there’s a great chance that we won’t receive any purchases for our product. We can do research with tools such as Overture & Wordtracker.
#2 – Keyword Optimize our websitesIt is important that we put keywords throughout our website and-or blog. When we write an article, we want to put your chosen key-words in our H1 title tags, in our meta-tags, and 3%-7% in the actually article body of our website content. By placing these words throughout the article, it will help our websites get noticed by search engines such as Google.
#3 – How do we know a word is good?A keyword is good when many people are searching for it, and there is low competition for it. If we optimize our page for one keyword that is highly search but has low page content, there’s a great chance that the webpage will show up on the first page of Google results.
#4 – Targeting Long-tail KeywordsLong tail keywords are keyword phrases that have 3 or more words. For example, a short keyword would be “printer supplies”, but a better word for your website would be “printer supplies for a laser jet”. When we target a long-tail keyword, we receive targeted traffic, which converts into sales.
#5 – Why Keywords are so importantKeywords help our websites establish consistent traffic. If we rank high for a great keyword, the chances of our site getting hundreds, even thousands of daily visitors is more than likely. Pittsburgh SEO - What is Keyword Research
Keyword Research is a term used often by search engine optimizers . It's a process where an analysis and research is done to find out possible search engine keywords that you'd like your website to rank well for. This is especially important for a area like Pittsburgh.
You might think, well I know what words-phrases I want to target with my website. But what is important to understand is that some keywords just don't get search very often in search engines and therefore are not the best choice to target your site for. That's why research and analysis should be done on a website. As well, you have to take into consideration what the competition for that keyword is. If it's too tough then your site might not have a chance at getting ranked in there right away and you might be better off to start out on a term with less competition.
Okay, so we now know that keyword research is important and should be done, how does this relate to Pittsburgh. Well in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area we have a number of sub locations. Such as Natrona Heights, Allegheny county, Butler county , Mckees Rocks, ect... Each of these locations can be targeted as part of your keywords.
So how do we go about doing that? There are several ways to attack it. What seems to work best is to find out more specific keywords from general keywords and then determining which has the best traffic for the least amount of competition. There are several tools out there that can be used to do this.
I've listed a few tools that will help in going keyword research. Even if you're not a search engine expert you can use these tool and take a look your self. Most of the tools are very easy to use.
1. One of those easy tools is Wordtracker. It's a simple tool to use and what it does is give you suggestions as to possible keywords you might want to use from a generic keyword you enter in. Also it gives you an estimated average search volume for the keyword suggestions. So for our use it's a two in one tool.
2. Another great tool is Google's AdWords tool. It operates similar to the Wordtracker tool expect it gives you data directly from Google. It's probably a good time for me to add what the Google tool only looks at searches on Google and the Wordtracker tool only looks at searches done on some smaller search engines and then estimates what the traffic would be on the major search engines. With that said you'll want to keep that in mind when looking at the data they give you.
3. On to the last tool I'd like to mention. It's the Google toolbar with the PageRank meter. PageRank, if you're not familiar with this term is an arbitrary score that Google assigns to website based on how many people are linking to that website or web page. The higher the score, the more people are linking to your site. But wait there is another twist to the PageRank score each link that goes to a site only counts as much as the rank they have. So if you have 2 for your PageRank and link to another site, the link to them is less in weight compared to someone who links to them from a PageRank 5 web page. Links are important for as search engines evaluate them as a sort of popularity vote for a website or web page. Well, hope you understand that now, lets get back to this tool. The tool shows you the PageRank for each site in the green meter bar. A way to use this tool is to search for a keyword you're interested in targeting your site for and then view each of the pages in the search results checking out their PageRank. Then compare your findings to your website or web page you want to rank. It should give you an idea of how well you'll do - as far as the linking factor goes.
Now specifically in Pittsburgh you can use these tools by looking up keyword in WordTracker or Google AdWords tool using the keyword Pittsburgh or one of the sub locations or surrounding areas such as Butler county or Mckees Rocks. For example try researching the search term "car dealer in Pittsburgh". You might find that "dealers" with the "S" on the end gets more searches and therefore might be a better keyword for a car dealer's website in the Pittsburgh area.
Keyword Research is More Than SEO
It does not matter whether you have a large Internet marketing budget, whether you already SEO'd your site, or whether your brand is so well-known, you don't need to make any effort to get customers . If you have not done proper keyword research , then you may be missing one of the easiest entry points to more profits.
Keyword research is not just for SEO. In fact, in Israel, many SEO experts are not doing keyword research. Rather, they rely on the client to provide a list of the keyword phrases they believe are being used to search for their products and services. But before we go on - What is keyword research? It should be the methodical way that a company determines how potential customers are searching using the search engines. It is important to note here that the average company does not know how their potential customers are searching. They should be able to supply some good insight, but relying on the company itself for developing the keyword list will usually mean missing the most promising opportunities and a large part of the potential audience.
Many clients are under the impression that there is some narrow list of terms that potential customers are using in Search Engine searches. They have a very subjective view of how customers search and most either do not have metrics on their site or have never bothered to look at the keywords that are being used to reach their site. If you have Google analytics or another metrics application installed on your site - you at least have the ability to see when someone reaches your site, how they arrived . Taking a look at the keywords used to reach your site in your Google Analytics account can be very interesting. and revealing. But still, it does not tell you how the potential customers that did not end up on your site are searching.
The truly important point that is usually missed about keyword research is the benefits of keyword research beyond the obvious SEO needs for keyword research. You can find new niche markets that you may have never realized are out there. It worked for one of our clients in the parental controls market. As we conducted our methodical keyword research , we were focused on children and families and creating a safe Internet environment. But during the research, we ran into adult related issues. For example, one of the categories that parental control web filters usually block is gambling. And yes, teenagers are susceptible to online gambling. But moreso, there is a huge, worldwide problem among adults - compulsive gambling - and it has been further exacerbated over the years by the 24-7 inconspicuous availability of Internet gambling and online betting.
During our research, we started to actually get into the heads of this potential audience -- the compulsive gamblers themselves and the relatives and loved ones who are trying to help them. For example, search "gambling website blocker", like one recent searcher who purchased the software, and our client comes up - number one on Google. Not only that, but there is a specific landing page that we created to address this niche market's concerns. A compulsive gambler can not resist the temptation that the many betting sites and online casinos are offering. The landing page specifically addresses the problem gambler and his loved ones. And the product provides real help to this audience by blocking out all gambling related content. Believe it or not, until we did the keyword research, the client never thought about this market.

Performing Keyword Research Before SEO
Before you start trying to optimize your website, you should need to do a bit of research. This may sounds odd to a lot of web publishers, but before you do anything you need to do some keyword research. There are many different resources that you can go to and all you have to do is type in a subject and you can be given a list of the most commonly searched phrases relating to this topic. Why is this important? The reason is because that when you are optimizing your website you are not just optimizing for the search engine spiders, you are also optimizing for the web surfer that uses the search engines. For instance, if you have a website that is about golf you may find that the typical web surfer does not just type in golf but types in golf club or golf and then the city or state that they are interested in golfing in.
The phrasing is important because you can target your audience by incorporating the most common phrases. You would not want to simply use the keyword "golf" because there are millions of other websites that are also using the term golf and your website will literally get lost in the crowd. Instead, you will want to choose more of the specific keywords that your visitors will be likely to type into the search engine. When you have done this research, you will know which keywords that you should try to focus on and associate with your website.
Keyword research will not take you a lot of time in fact it can take just minutes to perform. It may take you a bit longer to actually integrate these keywords in healthy amounts into your website. You do not just want to write up a bunch of fluff that will use the keywords as this is not how you can improve your pagerank and be seen. You want to improve your pagerank and then provide consumers with the service, product, or information that they are looking for when they visit your website.
Now you can probably see why many web publishers have a hard time actually optimizing their website! Optimization is something that happens slowly over time. Those that try to rush the process usually end up doing more damage than good, simply creating more work than was necessary. Keyword research is a significant task in order to optimize any site.
Top 3 Keyword Research Tips – Take Keyword Research to the Next Level
Keyword research is one of the first steps in picking out a product to promote, trying to discover a profitable niche without a ridiculous amount of competition or creating products to fit targeted keywords. If keyword research is not conducted in depth or properly it will greatly scathe the potential of your website or revenue potential of a selected affiliate product. The following tip list will guide you towards conducting professional keyword research with little effort.
Tip #1: Utilize Keyword Tools
There are dozens of keyword tools out on the market from Overture to Wordtracker and hundreds of others that draw data from Overture . The keyword I suggest using is AdWords Analyzer if you are extremely serious about your ventures or for a free tool Good Keywords.
Tip #2: Target Keyword Phrases
The top mistake researchers make is trying to target towards the keyword with the most searches in their list, which is most likely an extremely broad keyword or two. The problem with that is that the broad word likely have a ridiculous amount of competition that would again hurt the potential of your website. It is smart to narrow down to exact phrases that tightly target your ideal customer. For example, let’s say you are selling an e-Book you wrote on “vegetarian cooking for single moms” or something else highly targeted. It would be a mistake to target the keywords “cooking” or “vegetarian cooking” as your primary keyword focus. Get as specific as possible by targeting the most specific keyword phrases you can, even if that phrase doesn’t get a few hundred thousand searches a month when a user does search for your phrase you bet if your site is on page one they will visit almost ready to buy.
Tip #3: Optimize Your Website with Your Researched Phrase
Now that you have discovered your specific keyword phrases you need to implement them in your website so search engines are aware that your site is related to the subsequent keyword phrase. Make sure to include your primary keyword in your keyword meta tag in your html header, page title and to include it in 4-7% of your website’s content meaning that it should show up in articles or other writings within your site. Aside from your primary keyword phrase make sure to include a variation and a secondary specific phrase after that you may want to include broad keywords at the end of meta tags just incase your site takes off and you have a shot at beating stiff competition.
Keyword Research for Seasonal Site SEO
Keyword research is one of the necessary steps that must be undertaken as part of a search engine optimization plan. That being said, you have to be careful when doing it for a seasonal site.
A seasonal site is simply one that is dialed into a particular time of the year. Assume you are selling bathing suits. You are probably going to do most of your business during the spring and summer. There may be a few people searching online for bathing suits in December, but not many.
If you have a seasonal site, you are both blessed and cursed when it comes to optimizing it to obtain top rankings. How so? On the good side, most of your competitors more or less shut down their optimization efforts during the down season or at least just do minor maintenance efforts. On the bad side, you can easily be misled when doing keyword research.
I will get a call every so often from someone with a season site that is very frustrated. They have optimized the site. They have top rankings for their keywords on MSN, Google and Yahoo. The high season comes. They make sales, but nowhere near what they were expecting. Conversion rates are acceptable, but the rankings are producing far less traffic than they expected. So, what is the problem? Time.
With a seasonal site, it is vital that you take the time of the year into account when doing your keyword research. Just as your site is seasonal, so are the search phrases being used. Let’s go back to our bathing suit site example.
Assume I am going to start optimizing my bathing suit site. I understand that I need to do keyword research to see what my potential customers are using to search for bathing suits. I pop on to Wordtracker or whatever and start hunting. I make a big list and get ready to go. This is exactly what I should do except there is one problem:
It is JANUARY!
How accurate is my keyword research going to be? Most of my potential market is not going to be shopping for bathing suits during the winter. As a result, many of the keywords I discover may be false negatives. They may be used a bit, but I could be completely missing out on the high traffic phrases used during the high season for my site. If you have a seasonal site, you must do your keyword research during the high season without exception.
Okay, so what do I do if it is January? Do I just forget about optimizing my site? Of course not. It is time to start doing bathing suit searches. Think of every possible phrase you could possible use for bathing suits. Now keep an eye on which sites keep popping up over and over. Once you have identified them, see what keyword phrases they are using by reading their meta titles. Compare those to your keyword research and you should be able to identify any biggies you have missed.
The Importance Of Proper Keyword Research To SEO
Seeing your site at the top of the search results for your target phrase as a beautiful thing however, if it doesn't drive quality, converting traffic to your site, it's not doing you any good. The goal of any true optimization campaign is not only to get a site and it's pages to the top of the results, but to get them to the top of the results for the phrases that matter.
In order to know the most important phrases to target it's necessary to do some keyword research before ever beginning the promotion of your site. I can tell you from first hand experience, I've seen some absolutely beautiful sites, with great content and great products fail miserably because they targeted the wrong phrases.
There are LOT of different ways to research the best keywords to choose. Below I've outlined a few of the top that should help you get going.
1 Brainstorming
The obvious place to start. Think of all the ways you know of that your potential visitors could try and find your product or service, but don't stop there. Once you've run out of terms, ask friends and family how they would try and find your product or service when searching online.
You may well be surprised at how others will search for you. Remember, in general, your potential visitors are not experts in your industry and may well use vastly different language to describe your product or service.
Make a list of all the phrases you come up with.
2 Competitors
This is always a good place to continue your research. After all, if there business has been running for a while, it is likely they have done a good bit of the research you need to do, so use their success to your advantage! Go through their site and look at the keywords and phrases they are targeting. Make notes of any phrases that can be used to describe your product or service that you haven't yet come up with and add them to your list.
3 Keyword Research Sites
These are great. You can type in a phrase and get back phrases that incorporate that phrase, associated phrases, etc. You'll also generally get a good bit of additional information such as predicted number of searches in a given time frame, etc. There are a number of research sites these days...some free and some paid.
I've listed a few below.
Wordtracker - Paid but has a free trial
Keyword Discover - Paid
Good Keywords - Free downloadable program
Google Keyword Tool - Free
Always remember that no keyword research tool is perfect. Some data will be skewed due to numerous reasons, but they are ideal for finding additional keywords and phrases you may have never thought of.
4 Old School Research
For this break out the dictionary and the thesaurus. You do have those don't' you? Well, luckily if not, you can use some online ones as well. : You'd be surprised at the great ideas you can get just by using a thesaurus.
By the time you've gone through all 4 steps above, you should have a pretty exhaustive list of phrases that can be used to find your product or service. If you have multiple products and services, you will want to repeat the above steps for each product-service you offer.
Once you've got your list you want to focus your pages on the phrases you've generated. I try and hit about 2-3 phrases per page. In doing this you'll keep the focus of each page tight and have the best chance of ranking for that pages target phrase.
I'll see you at the top!
SEO Basics - Keyword Research and Analysis
I recently met with a business owner that sells manufactured homes . The company is established and has decent branding, but lacks a Web site . Preliminary meetings with our prospective clients normally involve quite a bit of investigation into the business, their primary target audience, and brainstorming about potential keywords. During the meeting I learned about his industry, clients, and the challenges his business encounters. He explained very clearly that they despise the term "Mobile Home" and preferred the terms "Manufactured Housing" or "Modular Homes." I am a Real Estate Broker and have seen this marketing shift in the last several years and was not surprised.
After the meeting was over and I got back to the office to begin the research, it quickly became obvious that the business owner was not going to like what I was going to tell him. The term "mobile home" was searched approximately 5x's more than "modular home." If he wants to build an effective Web site for his company, he would need to optimize for the term "mobile home" - the term he despises.
This story is a prime example of what keyword research is all about. SEO is not just about making the site rank high in the search engines, it's about doing market research and then targeting the desired traffic. Please don't misunderstand, just because one keyword has more traffic than another, it doesn't mean it is better for your business to optimize for that keyword.
For example: As a Real Estate Broker would it be smarter to optimize for "homes for sale" or "Real Estate Agent" ? Even though may have 10x's the amount of traffic an individual that searches for is likely a better target market. Some people can browse for homes for years without actually buying, while someone searching for the services of a Real Estate Agent is more likely to convert.
Keyword research and analysis is the basic foundation of SEO work. It can mean the difference of success and failure for your online marketing strategy. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in campaigns that actually increased specific keyword traffic via integration of Offline and Online marketing techniques. In most cases though, the human user is the driving factor which determines the direction of your SEO efforts and Web design
Keyword Research Tutorial for SEO Beginners
Step one: Research. Getting your keyword research right is so important your whole SEO strategy is built around the keywords and phrases you choose to optimise your site for.
The purpose of keyword research is to identify the keywords and phrases potential visitors to your site are searching with. So, even if you were able to get to position one in Google it may be for nothing if the keyword is not relevant and targeted to your business. The goal is not just to bring in more traffic to have visitors leave right away. The goal is to bring in qualified visitors who are actively looking for your site. Therefore, step one in your SEO strategy is research to identify the keyword phrases potential customers are searching for to find a site like yours.
Create a list of keywords related to your site and audience. To create this list you might do the following: list related terms for your industry product or service, put yourself in your customer's shoes, have a look at your website's referral logs, have a look at what your competitors optimise for, use a keyword suggestion tool, you may need a list of keywords for each page of your site.
Next analyze your list of keywords to find out additional information such as the amount of existing competition for the keyword, page rank factors and consider your potential to rank for it.
By now you have a list of keywords and additional information on them. The analysis information will assist in creating a shortlist of keywords you will optimise your site for. Consider eliminating the following from your list: extremely competitive keywords, low popularity, rarely searched keywords, non specific or off topic keywords.
Now implement the keyword phrases into your site. You only want to focus on two, three or four keywords per page, any more than that and you risk diluting your page and optimising for nothing. Each page may have a slightly different focus which needs to be reflected with specific keywords.
Implement your keywords into your site in the following: Your sites title tag, meta description, keywords tag, headers, body text, image alt text, link anchor text and in your URLs and folder structure.
There's no doubt about it, keyword research is an essential aspect of your SEO strategy. Target the wrong keyword phrases and you may have meaningless rankings resulting in unqualified traffic and low ROI. Get it right and you will see a noticeable increase in targeted quality traffic, ROI, sales of your product, service or desired action.
The Undeniable Significance of Keyword Research in SEO
Alright, so you have heard about how important keywords are in SEO. But why is it so important, you might ask. The answer is pretty simple really.
Because, unless you sell to your target audience, chances are that your webpage is lost in the millions of pages out there.
This is one of the reasons why most companies spend considerable time in keyword research before going online. If you are a company who is about to go online in some time, then you can follow these steps to maximize the effectiveness of your SEO program.
What are people searching for?
That's exactly what you need to find.
While it is normal that you have at least 1 to 3 keywords on your main page, the focus should be on the most crucial keyword.
Get a piece of paper and jot down a list of the most used and most searched terms.
Look at it as if you are a customer searching for something and write down the very terms that you would use.
This will very easily give you a few words to start with and then you can list down the ones that are closest to these keywords.
There are several tools like overture and word tracker that can help you with the most used keywords in the last few weeks.
Competition
Just pick up any term that is relevant to your product from the list and conduct a search on google for the term. The number of web pages that come up in the result pages will help you determine the competition for that particular term.
And the last part is how you apply the keywords to your content. This is a section called as on page SEO techniques which tells you how you have to use the keywords on your webpage.
Keyword Research - SEO Management Step One
Keyword research is a discipline embraced and used in SEO management by experts to allow them to determine which search terms people are searching on in the search engines. At its simplest level, this research is about studying the phrases that work for your audience and it is a real art. It is one of the most effective ways to identify niche markets that others have failed to recognize. Keyword research is very important so that the content of the pages are more attractive as much for the users as for the robots. Keyword research is not an exact science and shouldn't be discussed like it is.
I like to focus on finding long tailed keyword phrases that have a significant number of monthly searches for that exact term with 5,000 to 300,000 competing websites. Long tailed keywords, are multi-word keyword phrases. Most folks searching with a one or two keyword are just "browsing". Most people who use long tail keywords know what they want. Remember, you want to focus each page on 2-3 keyword phrases.
There are many free keyword research tools online. Most SEO software tools include these tools as well. Google, Yahoo and other search engines have free tools also. You want a tool that will give you the number of daily or monthly searches and competing web pages. There are even sites like "spyFu.com" that will let you see which terms your competitors are using.
When you are choosing keywords for your always use more than one word. If you only have one keyword then you will get ranked very low on the search engine results page because the search engine spiders will have millions of webpage in their indexes that have that word somewhere in the page. The more specific you can make the keywords or key phrase the more likely it is that your efforts will pay off.
Make sure that you position your keywords carefully. Using your keywords spread through the page. I suggest using your main keyword phrase in your first and last paragraph of your content. And don't forget to us them in the headings and in the hidden html Meta tags on the page especially the "title tag". It will make it more likely that the search engine spiders will rank your web page higher than other pages that might have some of the same content but don't have those keywords or key phrases placed properly on the web page.
How many keywords you have in an article is known as keyword density. Your keyword density should be anywhere from 3% to 7%. For example, if you were to write a 100 word article you would need to write the keyword in 7 times to achieve a 7% keyword density. For a 500-word article you would need to use your keyword 15 times to get a 5% density. I use a tool called "Content Composer" that does a fantastic job of keeping me on track.
Keyword research can be defined as choosing the words, which describe your product or service as, seen from the viewpoint of your target market is the most important step in the SEO Management process.
SEO Website Design - Successful Keyword Research
Keyword research is some of the most profitable time you can spend on your website. Why do so few website designers consider it at all?
Website designers are pretty much two-a-penny on the Internet today, but what do we actually mean when we talk about website design. These days, with the emergence of the search engines as such a powerful marketing resource, we cannot be talking about graphics, pictures, colours or look and feel. Of course these elements have their place, but if you are serious about a successful website they play second fiddle to the requirements of search engine optimisation.
Your first step in planning a website is to consider the objectives you have for your website, and I discuss this in detail in my article: SEO Website Design: The first step to success. After you have established your objectives you need to consider your keywords, that is, where are you going to compete for business in the search engines.
Your mission here is to predict what keywords a potential client of yours would type into a search engine when they were looking for you. For example, if you are a holiday tour operator, your client's may be typing in 'summer sun', or 'cheap weekend breaks.'
Incidentally, have you noticed that when you contact a company over the Internet they have started to ask you what keywords you used to find them? There are no prizes for guessing why they ask.
As another source of keywords you may consider your product or service names. You should also include variations on these keywords. For example, 'ski holiday', could also be 'skiing holiday' or 'ski holidays.' There are a number of freely available and subscription based keyword suggestion tools that you can use to get all the common variations.
The keyword suggestion tools will also give you an indication of activity on that keyword. That is, an indication of the number of times that keyword is entered into a particular search engine. These numbers should not be taken as literal, but used to compare comparative the effectiveness of keywords. Use the suggestion tools to weed out the lesser keywords and re-order your list with the most effective at the top. At this stage you should bear in mind that for every keyword you choose you will have to build good quality content around it, so don't pick too many.
There are some guidelines you should bear in mind when picking keywords:
Only choose keywords that relate to your business. That is, don't pick a work that is unrelated just because you think it will generate traffic. All you are doing is wasting time and resources.
You need keywords that have sufficient activity, but don't only pick generic keywords where there is massive competition. Add to that keyword to make it more specific to you, so you have a chance of competing.
If you put more thought into your keywords at this stage, you can save yourself hard work in developing parts of your website that have little or no chance of getting ranked in the search engines, or ranked highly for keywords that no one uses.
Your next step is to build a silo of rich relevant content around your keyword landing page, but that's the subject of another of my articles.
Keyword Research - Effective Keyword Research is Vital to Your Online Success
Why you need to do keyword research
Keyword research is a vital part of creating an effective website, if you target the wrong keywords you could wait for months and still not get free search engine traffic to your site.
If you want more than your fair share of free search engine traffic then you need to do extensive keyword research. The sad truth is that if your website doesn't show up on the first two pages of search results then your site is virtually invisible to the people you want to find it.
Make sure your site is listed in search results for your keywords
When people search online, they type what they're looking for in the search box. If a website has the keywords they are searching for, then it shows up in the search results. If you want your site to appear on the first page of results you need to make sure you include those keywords on your website in all the right places.
How do you identify the right Keywords?
You can find the best keywords for your website using free services like the Google Keyword tool or Wordtracker, or you can get more precise results using paid tools.
Identify a broad keyword that describes your website and use your favourite keyword research tool to find how many searches there are and discover other related keyword phrases too.
If your website is about life coaching, then type life coaching into the keyword research tool. The tool will present you with a list of related keywords and the number of searches.
Identify Low Competition Keywords
Your aim is to find the right keywords for your website, and if you want to rank on the first page of Google then you need to choose keywords that have low competition. Ideally you want keywords that are searched for a lot but don't have many pages in the search results.
Once you know how many searches there are for a particular keyword, you can use Google to find how many pages there are with that keyword phrase.
Type your keyword in the Google search box, making sure you use quotation marks. If Google says that there are less than 100,000 pages using that keyword phrase it may be worth targeting.
You can find a better indication of how many pages focus on the keyword by typing allintitle: your keyword phrase into the Google search box. Now Google will list only those web pages that have your keyword in the title. The lower this figure, the better chance you have of ranking on the first page of search results.
Once you've identified your most profitable keywords, all you need to do is put them where the search engines like to see them and get links to your site using those keywords.

Keyword Research is the Heart of SEO Development Campaign
Keyword research is the heart of SEO development campaign. No matter how many pioneering websites you create, no matter how good your products are, no matter how much money, time and effort you spend, no matter how many Google AdSense codes you paste, there is only one factor that will decide the outcome of your monthly income... you definitely must have the "right" keywords!
The key in developing your website is to target phrases that have lower competition. This is the area you should spend all of your time on before you embark on any linking or development campaigns. How do you do it? There are three ways. First find the best keyword finder research software online. They are priced between $67-$97 one time purchase with free lifetime upgrades. It comes complete with several ratios, analysis and all the tools needed to help a researcher with his objectives. The second way is to look for a keyword research tool online. These are monthly subscriptions ranging from $14-$24 a month. These are also good complete products. The problem with them is you don't own the product. With the least expensive subscription costing $14 a month, it's hard to recommend it to anyone who isn't already making a profit. If you really have a limited budget, you can opt for a free keyword research tools. The problem with this option is the quality of data you get raw data with no analysis and is inferior as compared to the first two options.
Keyword research is not limited to identifying the right keywords with both traffic and low competition but also finding a possibly untapped niche, one that has people looking for information but for which there aren't many good sites that provides relevant information. Long tail keywords can generate a lot of traffic, but targeting them means you have to know what they are, and which ones get traffic.
In the world of competitive online businesses, keyword research is a vitally important aspect of your search engine optimization campaign. If your site is targeting the wrong keywords, the search engines and your customers will never find you, resulting in lost dollars and mediocre search engine rankings. By targeting the wrong keywords, you not only put valuable advertising dollars at risk, you are also wasting away all the time and energy you put into getting your site to rank for meaningless words. If you want to stay competitive, you cannot do away with that.

Why Keyword Research Is A Vital Part Of The SEO Process
Most websites fail to achieve high search engine rankings because of badly chosen keywords. Identifying and qualifying the correct website keywords are absolutely crucial to the success of any website.
There is no point selecting website keywords that have low search volumes.
There is no point selecting keywords that have low search volumes as they will attract very few visitors to a website. Equally choosing general site keywords where there is already a high number of websites competing for those keywords is not a smart move. This will result in a website struggling to achieve a high placement on the search engines, simply because the site is competing with thousands of other websites for the selected keywords.
General site keywords which are most commonly searched for will be used by thousands of different websites and competing with these already established websites may not improve your search engine ranking at all The ideal solution therefore is to identify keywords with reasonable search volumes but with a much lower number of websites competing for those keywords.
Keyword research should be the first step of any search engine optimization project.
Keyword Research is a vitally important aspect of a search engine optimization campaign and is one of the most important parts of online marketing. Extensive keyword research will help to identify the most relevant search terms used by potential customers and should be the first step of any search engine optimization project.
It is worth test driving a number of different keyword research tools.
Although the initial idea of keyword research can be daunting there are various online keyword research tools available that will help to identify the strongest performing website keywords, such as Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery. It is worth test driving a number of different keyword research tools, as many of them work differently and provide different data.
It is not a good idea to use the keyword research tools available on Google and Yahoo Search as these will only provide limited information and can create a false impression. The data provided is only based on the previous months search activity. Therefore, as an example, keyword research for 'winter sports' is unlikely to produce huge volume of searches if the research is conducted in the middle of summer!
Most customers are likely to use search terms containing 2 or 3 keywords.
Most customers are likely to use search terms containing 2 or 3 keywords when searching for a particular product or service. Therefore websites containing mainly single keywords are unlikely to produce high levels of search traffic. The use of single generic keywords are also more likely to produce a lot of non relevant traffic to a site. For example, if a customer uses the keyword "computer" they may be looking for a new desk top machine, the latest laptop or even a computer repair engineer.
The more targeted website keyword phrases that can be identified the better, as this will enable the easy creation of keyword rich content which will not only improve search engine rankings but will also increase the number of visitors to the site. The use of general site keywords needs to reviewed and refreshed as a website develops. For example, new website keywords will need to be identified to promote a new product or service.
Keyword research should play a significant role in the development of a website and if used correctly will make a significant difference in any online business.

Keyword Research - The Foundation Of Search Engine Optimisation Practices
1. INTRODUCTION
Keyword research is a skill which is central to internet marketing. At it's simplest:-
Keyword research is the act of determining the key words, or key phrases, by which people search for a topic of interest on the internet.
By knowing which search terms are used by our target market, we can position our products and services on the internet with a view to gaining maximum exposure and return on investment for our marketing costs.
In other words, keyword research is central to the goal of internet marketing, which is sending targeted traffic to relevant offers. It is also invariably linked with attempting to have our web presence rank highly in the search engines for those relevant topics.
The precise methods used to undertake keyword research, and the information we need to ascertain about potential keywords, will differ according to the use we intend to make of them. However, as keyword research is such an integral preliminary foundation to so many marketing practices, it's worthwhile exploring the basics as a precursor to more advanced marketing strategies.
2. GETTING STARTED
It is important to understand that keyword research is not as simple as ascertaining which keywords are most searched for on any given topic. There are three primary considerations-tasks when deciding which keywords you are going to focus on for your marketing.
Keyword Brainstorming
First and foremost, it is essential to have some familiarity with your target market. In doing so, you can then brainstorm a list of keywords which can be used to promote your product or service using highly relevant terms. Some industries have terms which are specifically associated with that industry. Think of it as similar to using slang. If you know the vernacular used by the target audience, you have a better chance of getting their attention. Using an example, in Australia, filing for bankruptcy is often simply referred to as 'filing a Part 10'.
Hot Tip - Public forums are a great way to gain familiarity with the language used by our target market. Try doing a search for 'keyword forum' where keyword is your relevant topic.
Search Volume
Search Volume is of course, important. If no one is using a keyword to search for a topic, it is of limited value. However, it is important to keep in mind that whilst keywords which are generic in nature might have high search volumes, and therefore can potentially result in large amounts of traffic, they are frequently highly competitive. In addition, they are often non-specific and may not result in the targeted traffic we need to generate sales.
As an example, if we were a company that specialized in selling 'quad core processors', the term 'computers' might not be the best term to use, even though the word computers has a massive search volume. A person who puts in the term 'computer' is just as likely to be looking to buy a whole new computer, or a disk drive, or memory, or a range of other things not really related to our quad core processors.
Generally, it is better to find keywords which may have a lower search volume, but which are clearly relevant to the product or service we are offering. In the above example, the term 'computer' is searched for almost 9,000 times per day on the primary search engines. Conversely, 'quad core processor' is searched less than 40 times. However, the latter keyword is far more likely to result in a person who is looking to buy our product clicking on our link as there is a high correlation between their search term and our product. This is also more likely to result in a sale .
Keyword Competition
This dynamic ties in with the points raised above in relation to search volume. Your goal in marketing is to gain exposure with your relevant market or audience. It is essential to find a balance between using keywords which generate targeted traffic, but which aren't so competitive that your web presence gets buried in the search rankings.
Returning to our earlier example, a search for 'computer' on Google returns 1,430,000,000results. Ouch. The prospect of us getting on the first page of Google for a search with that term are staggeringly unlikely. A search for 'quad core processor' returns only 550,000 results. Far better, but still a large volume of competition. Scraping our way onto page 1 is still going to take a lot of effort. How about we refine our keyword again? Let's try 'Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor'. This search term has 150,000 competing search results, and still gets around a dozen searches per day. This is still competitive, but a far cry from the one and a half billion results our first attempt gave us.
Let's try another example. Let's say we are promoting an ebook on aspergers. The term aspergers has 1,400,000 results and is searched for 1300 times a day. This is highly competitive.
The term 'aspergers syndrome and definition' however only yields 70,000 competitors but is searched for almost 70 times daily. Whilst not perfect, with good marketing practices it should be possible for us to rank fairly well for this keyword, and start to generate some of our own quality traffic.
Long Tail Keywords
Keywords with more than three words in them are known as Long Tail Keywords. Refining our keywords or key-phrases even more has the desired effect of uncovering keywords with lower competition but which still generate sufficient traffic.
Frequently it is far more lucrative to focus on a group of specific highly targeted long tail keywords which each generate a small number of leads each day, compared to one generic word which is so competitive it's almost impossible for us to take a slice of the traffic pie. Quite simply, this is because long tail keywords have less competition, enable us to rank well in the search engines, and so generate ongoing organic traffic. It also has the advantage of sending highly targeted traffic to our products or services, which increases the likelihood of their search converting into a sale or a new customer.
Whilst our analysis of competition must ultimately go further than a simple comparison of the numbers of competing sites for a particular term, it's a good starting point.
In Summary
A careful consideration of these three factors will take us a long way in making certain that our keyword research ultimately yields results, and allows us to use good search engine optimisation techniques to improve our web presence.
Understanding Keyword Research and the SEO Long Tail of Keywords
A core SEO principle involves understanding the SEO long tail of keywords and how to leverage its potential with your on page and off page strategy. When a search engine optimization specialist masters long tail keyword research he is enabling the website's ability to maximize search engine ranking potential. A long tail keyword strategy can be applied to both natural search rankings and pay per click advertising.
With long tail strategy the SEO specialist understands that even though the majority of searches are typically centered on a one, two or three word keyword search phrase that there is an extensive amount of value in the total combined search volumes of four and five keyword targeted phrases. Why would your strategy focus around long tail keywords?
Keyword Strategy and the Long Tail:
If you knew the majority of searches where not occurring among four-word for five-word keyword phrases, then why target them? There are several reasons why this strategy might be adventurous, mainly because the barriers of ranking naturally for shorter keyword phrases are too high. This might be because the sites currently ranking well for the shorter keyword phrase are older , have a significantly larger website, or have more links pointing to their site, some of which use the targeted keyword phrase as anchor text.
Understanding that you may not rank for certain high traffic two or three keyword phrases the SEO professional must think more creativity. The SEO professional must look to find "deeper," or long tail keywords. Typically the search volumes are much lower for long tail keywords, so it becomes a strategy of volume. If planned correctly ranking for the sum of long tail keywords will have a greater value than just ranking for one or two high traffic keywords.

Keyword length
Some times the keyword length matters for ranking because it is viewed in a recent SEO review that people used unnecessarily long key phrases to get ranked. Because low search volume gained keywords which may be too lengthy does not much effective for any kind of small business. Too much high search volume gained keywords is also not effective for any kind of small business because those keywords are defining the total business market and quite different from original searches what is done by net surfers.
Thus it is recommended that select medium search volume gained keywords for promoting any website into its market area. These keywords will be more beneficial for clients when they will shine at the top of any search engines result.

In proper keyword research competitiveness of several keywords is also a correlated term like search volume and you need to calculate properly as well. You need to pickup near about same search volume gained less competitive key phrases to promote your site. This kind of less competitive key phrases with medium search volume will help you to quickly rise into search result pages.
Article And SEO - How To Approach Keyword Research For Your Articles
Keywords are very critical part of effective article marketing. You can write your best article but without being found by others, you limit the exposure of that article.
High traffic and popular article directories, like EzineArticles, allow your articles to be found by site visitors. Their web pages are well indexed by search engines too. Often, articles with proper keywords will rank highly in search engine result pages.
This means additional viewer ship just by targeting the right keywords in the article.
First and foremost, what is keyword? A keyword is simply a word or combination of words that Web users enter into search engines to locate information. If you're writing about rose gardening, perhaps that keyword is obvious. However, there are always keywords that none of us have thought about.
Sometimes the keyword that we think have a lot of searches was only used rarely compared to other keywords. Keyword research tool shows these data based on the statistics from previous months.
Another thing I want to point out is that targeting proper keywords is not about using the most frequently searched keyword. Chances are if you target those keywords, especially in popular niches, you won't get the top rankings because other sites will dominate.
What you need to find is the sweet spot, i.e. keywords with relatively low competition. It gives you a better chance to get the ranking and exposure.
It doesn't mean that you can't take over the authority sites that are dominating the "big" keywords. Yes you can, but when you're just starting out, working yourself from bottom up is the way to go.
Often longer keywords are more targeted but have fewer searches. This is beneficial to you as you can get highly qualified visitors while securing the ranking far easily.

SEO Success - SEO is Not About Keyword Ranking But Keyword Theme
SEO or search engine optimization is used to help businesses to get more organic traffic online and increase conversion for their products or services. When you optimize a website, the success or failure of your optimization is not solely dependent on the rankings of a few general keywords. It is determined by the overall organic traffic and conversion.
Many business owners and marketing managers still measure the success of SEO by its keyword rankings. However, this is not the correct way to measure the ROI of your optimization process. No SEO consultant can guarantee rankings of keywords when it comes to optimization. This is because the organic listing of search engines is live and the listings change every day. Moreover, due to different datacenter, the display of ranking will differ according to which datacenter you are in when you do a search. So how can you measure the success of SEO based on these variables?
An experienced SEO consultant will not measure the success of your optimization based on keyword ranking. They will optimize a website based on a specific keyword theme. In another words, they should have a series of questions to ask you so that they can understand more about your marketing objective and find out the visitors' profile to your website. Who are your visitors? What is the demographic of your visitors? What are some of the information that the visitors wish to find out from your website?
Once the visitor profile is determined, the consultant will develop a list of keywords that are related to what you are offering. From the list of keyword, the consultant will identify a keyword theme and will revolve the entire optimization process around it. Keyword theme is very important and the consultant will make sure that the content and tagging of your website will be closely related to the keyword theme chosen.
If the keyword theme of your website is chosen correctly, your website will eventually get the most out of the organic listings of search engines. Your visitors will find your website from various long-tailed keywords due to the content that you have on your website. Long-tailed keywords usually contribute more organic traffic when compared to the generic keywords that you have optimized. Visitors using long-tailed keywords to find your site are more likely to buy from you due to their high interest level. Therefore, be sure to cooperate closely with your SEO consultant by giving him the necessary content to work on.
Last but not least, your website should have analytic codes installed so that you can track the performance of your optimization process. Review the analytic report every 3 months to see the performance of your overall organic traffic and conversions.

How to Use the META Keyword With Your Keyword or Keyword Phrase - SEO Tactics
I hate to repeat myself but we are going to beat the Reserve word thing again but this time from a more technical place the Meta section of html source code.
META NAME"keywords" CONTENT"lynchburg web design"
This command argument is still employed within the web professional ranks to some extent but it is believed that Google does not look at this tag. So why implement it at all? Likely from a safety point. There might be some Search Engines that do utilize it. So it is better to be prepared.
The meta reserve word tag was seen as a way to insert text or Keywords into an HTML page that was not visible when the page is rendered through a browser. In fact, some search engines have instead read the Meta tags rather than the content of the web pages.
The first major search engines to implement the meta keywords tag were Infoseek and AltaVista. It was unclear which one provided support 1st, but both did offer it in early 1990s. When Inktomi organized in 1996 through the HotBot search engine, it to provided support for the tag. Lycos followed suit in 1997. This brought the total up to four out of the seven major search engines at the time.
The downfall of the tag started sometime after 1997 when Google came on to the scene. Experience with the tag at that point proved it to be a magnet for spam. It seems some website owners might insert misleading content about their pages or make use of excessive repetition of text in hopes of tricking the spiders about relevancy. It is for this reason that support for this type of Meta tag started to drop off.

How Keyword Density Makes a Difference with Your Keyword or Keyword Phrase - SEO Tactic
Finally, the last in this series. Density and this relates to what? Keywords! That is correct. So what is the big affair? Elude being labeled a Spam site? Yes. But what else? It should be crystal-clear by now.
The content on your site needs to have one element that cannot be copied from a book or web page. And that is Readability.
Basically, Keyword Density is the percentage of frequency of your keywords to the text in the rest of your webpage.
Key density is critical because Search Engines implement this information to determine a websites theme, and which keywords the site is relevant for. The perfect Word density will help achieve higher Search Engine positions but Key density needs to be balanced correctly. Too low and you will not get the unique benefit and too high and your page might get flagged for "keyword spamming".
Without keywords for the Search Engines to index, there is literally nothing to find in the Search Engine results pages. Keywords have become a prime function of the Search Engines. As a result of those searches, your most essential keywords are what will lead potential customers to your web pages.
Remember that word I mentioned? Readability. One very critical thing you must remember and stay diligent about considering is keeping your content understandable. It must make an impression and your Keywords must assimilate efficiently into the content otherwise your site will not get rated very well and it probably will not get chosen by Search Engines.
Stay tuned for all of my examples and I will show in a particular manner how I came from the largeness of the Internet to the Top 10 for my Reserve word Phrase. You may also look on my website where my lessons here include images to describe the alterations that I have performed.

You can also Adwords’ Keyword tool to generate keywords. What I normally do is I will generate a list of specific keywords on my own and type them into a document. I will take a few minutes to an hour to brainstorm keywords which are relevant to my business. I will then use the Adwords tool to generate a wider scope of keywords. I then move on to Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery to get deeper.
The best keywords are often those which are long-tail in nature. These are keywords which often comprise three words or more. The best long-tail keywords are those which are searched at least 10-20 times daily, and have little competition in the search engine results or pay per click ads.

Keyword Research - ABCs Of Doing Keyword Research
If you do any kind of search engine optimization with your website, you need to know how to find the right keywords. If you aren't able to find keywords that can drive traffic to your website freely, then you're going to have a very difficult time being successful with any of your SEO efforts. The actual art of finding keywords can be broken down into several short steps in order to make sure that you understand fully what needs to be done.
A short explanation first of all on why you need to choose the correct keywords for your web content. People search by typing in keywords which will hopefully bring up websites that are related to what they want to read. You need to choose keywords that not many websites are targeting and also keywords which are being searched by interested prospects. Thus you have a better chance of ranking high in the search engines.
Initial Keyword Research - The first thing that you need to do is to find out what the people who are interested in your website or product are looking for. This is easily done by using one of the free or paid services that are available on the Internet. The external Google keyword tool is an excellent way for you to search for what people are actually searching for online and to search laterally as well by allowing it to use synonyms. Another excellent tool is Word tracker although to get all of the features of this tool you must purchase a membership.
Try to get into the mind of your website visitors and think of anything that they might type into the search engine in order to get to your website. Check these keywords on Google or at Word tracker in order to find out how many people are actually searching for those terms.
There are other keyword research tools online which don't cost anything. Send a blank email to my autoresponder tb-keyword@aweber.com for a list of keyword research tools.
Competition Search - Once you have compiled a list of keyword phrases, you need to see how easy it will be for you to rank well for those in the search engines. The easiest way for you to do this is to search for these keyword phrases in quotes on Google. This will give you a basic view of the actual competition for that particular keyword. If you have a very large list of keyword phrases, you may want to purchase a program in order to do a mass search for all of your keywords in order to check competition quickly.
Analyzing the Competition - You should now be to the point where you can begin to analyze your competitor's websites, especially those that are involved with search engine optimization. See which keywords they rank well for and then take a look at their pages to see how they optimize for that particular keyword phrase. By doing this, you will not only get an idea of how you should optimize as well but you will be finding dozens of other keyword phrases that you may not have thought about before. The more you dig, the deeper you will go.
That's all that there really is to finding good keywords for your website. Of course, you can purchase software which will make this process a lot easier but if you enjoy hunting for treasure, this can be an enjoyable process for you. Each keyword that you find is one more avenue that people have to get to your website. This skill is much needed in marketing your website. Internet marketing techniques such as blogging and article marketing also requires careful keyword research.

Keyword Research - Keyword Marketing - Keyword Development
Keyword Research and Keyword Marketing
Developing an accurate Keyword List is a critical step if you are creating a Web Site that will rely on Search Engines for generating either “organic” or pay-per-click search engine traffic to a Web Site. Keyword research also plays an important role in a Web Site’s design, navigation, and overall content.
What are Keywords?
These are the words and phrases used by browsers when using Search Engines. Search Engines then use those keywords to generate a list of results with links to web sites where those keywords appear most relevant.
Keyword Popularity
To find out which keywords are being used by your target audience, you can use tools like Overture’s Keyword Selector Tool. Enter keywords you believe your audience would use and Overture will let you know how many times over the past month that keyword was used. More importantly, they will provide you with similar keywords and keyword phrases. Following this trail can often lead to categories of keywords you may have overlooked.
Regional Keywords
Be aware not only of “how” browsers are searching, but also from where they are searching. In an effort to receive more targeted results, browsers will often include geographic keywords in their searches. Developing a keyword list that takes into account regional keywords can effectively cut the number of web sites you are competing with for SE results and at that the same time deliver more qualified traffic to your Web Site.
Keyword List Development
Once you have determined which keywords and phrases are being used, you can develop a hierarchy of keywords and phrases. This keyword list should be used extensively throughout a Web Site for things like Search Engine Optimization and Pay-Click Campaigns, developing Web Site navigation, design, and content, and for determining Web Site success.
Vertical Keyword Categories
Seldom will one category of related keywords cover all the ways your target audience may be trying to find you. For this reason it is important to identify the vertical categories and develop areas on your Web Site specific to each. Combining these categories on one page will only cut the relevancy of each category in half when indexed by a Search Engine.
Know How Browsers use Keywords to Search
Combining keywords is a powerful technique in Search Engine Optimization. Most browsers are using more than one keyword when conducting online searches. 49% of browsers are entering 3 keywords or more. The trend seems to be that browsers are getting more sophisticated in how they conduct their searches. They are realizing that one word searches do not deliver very specific results and quickly discover how to get more relevant search results. Source: OneStat.com

PPC Keyword Research - Why PPC Keyword Research Is Critical For A Successful PPC Campaign
Do you want to have a successful PPC campaign? Then there are several elements you need to take into account. This article will discuss what these elements are and how to find the best keywords for your ppc campaigns fast.
These include such basics as PPC keyword research, bidding, ad copy writing, landing page copy writing, and overall Web usability and tracking, which you are probably familiar with. Today we will focus on two important tips for developing your PPC keyword list.
Words & Location
Any successful shop owner will tell you that location is one of the most important factors in achieving success. In the same way, the cornerstone of any successful PPC campaign is your list of keywords. Your choice of keywords impacts both the quality and quantity of visitors to the site.
Say NO to client keyword requests
During a meeting with a new PPC client, you'll be handed a list of keywords that the client wants to use. They might feel that they must have a particular keyword because it is the only one capable of driving business. It is usually best to gently decline. The problem with accepting a client's list of keywords is that you are limiting yourself to their pre-conceived notions. By using your own PPC keyword research skills, you can genuinely find a better solution than what the client is asking for.

Local Market Keyword Research Targeting Your SEO Campaign For Local Markets
Many small business fail in their SEO campaigns because they fail to target the proper keywords. Defining your target market using proper keywords is one of the most important factors in a successful SEO campaign. On the other hand, many small businesses are scared to invest in an SEO campaign because they believe that the online marketplaces are too aggressive to compete in.
This article will clear up some of the confusion on local market keyword research, and how to judge how aggressive a local keyword market is.
Make a LOCAL keyword list.
Sometimes when I answer the phone the first thing that I hear is “I’ve been online for 3 years, I can’t find myself on Google, HELP!!!” Of course my response is “don’t worry sir-ma’am we can help you out, first lets take a look at the keywords that you have picked out for your site.”
99.9% of the time the local carpet cleaning business will have the keyword Meta tag arranged like this “Carpet, Cleaning, Carpet Cleaning, Carpet Stain Removal”. When I see Meta tags arranged like this I always ask, “You’re a local business. Do you want people out of state calling you for our services?” and again 85% of the time the answer is NO!
If you target a local market, make a local keyword list for your business. Do not describe your local business using, what I call, national or international keywords. Below are some examples of a proper keyword list and an improper keyword list targeting the Bellevue, Washington carpet cleaning market.
Wrong Keyword list,
BellevueWashingtonCarpet CleaningCarpet Cleaning Servic
Proper Keyword List
Bellevue Carpet CleaningBellevue WA carpet CleaningBellevue Carpet Cleaning ServicesCarpet Cleaning Company Bellevue
Take another look at your web pages Meta tags and see if you are using “National Market Keywords” or “Local Market Keywords.” If necessary make the needed changes, sit tight for a month or two, and run a new ranking report.
The next step will be to match the keywords used in the meta tags to the page content. Keep an eye out for that article!
Know how aggressive your keyword market is
Many small businesses look at a Google result listing and shake in fear. “Results 1-10 of about 2,500,000? How can I compete with that?” Before you rule SEO out of your marketing plan take a deeper look at how large your keyword market actually is. Lets stick with the Bellevue Washington carpet cleaning market for this example as well.
If you type the keyword Bellevue carpet cleaning into Google you should see, results 1 – 10 of about 224,000. If you notice all words on the result listing that are relevant to the search terms are in a BOLD color. This holds true with relevant words in the URL.
Knowing how Google indexes web pages we can assume that any web page on the Internet “housing” the individual words: Bellevue, Carpet, and Cleaning will appear in the results. So lets narrow down the “real competition” buy conducting a different search.
Lets search for only WebPages that have the words Bellevue Carpet Cleaning in the URL. We do this by conducting a Google search using Allinurl:Keyword. In this case we want to Google search for allinurl:Bellevue carpet cleaning
The results from this search jump from 244,000 to a mere 1,580. This is a number that a small business can compete with.

Keyword Advice - on Keyword Research and Identification, Keyword Placement, Density and Marketing
Keyword Identification is the first step while creating your content for your site. Identify keyword related to your niche topics should be the first priority while creating web content. The quality of these keywords
is critical for a good ranking in search engines. Researching the right keywords for your website should be the key, so that when people perform a search for a particular keyword phrase they will be able to find your
site. So how do you do that will be the questions in everybody's mind. I have categories this article into 3 phrases like keyword research or keyword identification, keyword selection, keyword placement, keyword density and keyword marketing.
Before I would go further I would like to discuss about building your website for your business you should focus on certain other SEO strategies like clean navigation, a search engine friendly website architecture so
that search engine spiders or robots can easily gather information from your website.
Once your site structure is done it is time to create the content for the site, which is the crucial part and where they keyword research, keyword density comes into play. If you follow these steps which I have mentioned below it is sure that your website can enjoy a higher ranking in search engines.
Step 1
Keyword Identification or keyword research:-
This should be first step while building your content, because your content will be build around
with the keyword and phrases which has been identified at this stage. Which is very critical and if not done correctly you won't achieve the desired results. There are different ways to identify how people search on the web.
1 Think about what keyword would you chooses while you search for certain products or services. Think from the customer point of view and not from search engine or SEO point of view. Collect and write it down. I suggest
using a spreadsheet so that it will help you in the stages as well.
2 The other way is you can ask your own customers or friends that how do they search on the net to find that particular products or services. Usually all people think differently and might not use the same keyword phrase to find that product or services. Collect them and store it.
3 Keyword suggestion tools. There are 100's of tools on the web some of them are free and other charge a fee. I suggest using Overture keyword tool and Google keyword tool and wordtracker . Type in your keyword and phrases into these tools you will find 100's of keywords for that particular products or services is been search on the web every month.
Also it will
show how many times that words are been searched on the internet. Tools like wordtracker will help you to find that how many times thesekeywords are been searched and how much competition is there for that particular keyword phrases. If you focus on high searched keyword it would be hard for your website to rank well because of competition.
So always choose a keywords that is less competitive, so that you website will rank well for that particular keyword phrase on the search engine results.
4 The other way is if you have already had a website online check its web log and gather that keywords which helps people to find your site. This will help for existing website to recreate the content.
After these steps are done use your spreadsheet to determine the keywords It is ideal to have more keywords rather than focusing on a few words. In that
spreadsheet matches the following keyword in terms like how many times the keywords are searched and how much competition is that keyword facing on the web.
As I said before always choose less competitive keywords. Once these stage is over start constructing your website content with the identified keywords.
Step 2
Keyword placement:-Placing the keyword is very crucial, because if the keywords are not place properly the search engine spiders will have a difficult time in identify and storing information from your web pages. You most important keyword should appear on the title of the page at least once which all search engine given relevancy. Next the same or related keyword should be there on the heading of the page. Also use a related keyword while starting a
paragraph and through out the web page evenly. The density factor is discussed below.
Step 3
Keyword density:- Search engine robots are very intelligent spiders they can determine while some tries to cheat them. Some webmasters and SEO experts use keyword spamming or keyword dumping which is ethical for
a good search engine optimization. If search engine spiders indexes a web pages it determine who much times that keywords has been used on a particular web page. So Keyword density is important. An ideal density
would be anything between 10-15 % keyword densities on the page. Also use keywords which are related to that phrase so that it gets relevancy for that web page. For example When I search for a keyword "dog supplies" I found 100 of
related terms which like "dog supplies online" "dog supply store" etc so think and figure out keywords which are more related to that topic. Also Sprinkle the keywords phrases right across the web page and not concentrate at a certain place.
At this stage you website content should be ready, keep in mind with the 3 top priority factors. This will determine your website success or failure in search engine. The next stage is keyword marketing.
Step 4
Keyword marketing:- Some of the techniques you will use as a off site factor rather than on the side, because it affects only the marketing process. As you all know all search engines give links more relevancies in the algorithm. So after your keyword identification, density and placement are over you should focus on marketing your site. Like site submission, article submission, link popularity while all these techniques are for increasing inbound links to your site. So you would be using your anchor text for creating a link pointing to your site. So here is where keyword marketing comes to play.
You should
use your key important phrase in these anchor text also mix up your related keywords. Keyword marketing is also vital for Pay per click marketing where keyword is the king. So gather keywords related to your business and use it widely in your PPC campaign. Pay per click industry is solely depends on keyword marketing. If you website want the maximum ROI you will have to apply the maximum keywords while bidding your keywords.
For example your website visibility will increase if you choose maximum keyword for your Pay per click marketing.
The bottom-line is to gain a high ranking in search engine use keyword which is related to your business on your onsite and offsite website marketing. Keyword is the king when it comes to content and content is the king when it comes to Search Engine Marketing.
Keyword Research and Analysis - The Cornerstone of Successful SEO and Search Engine Ranking
Keywords are the words that web surfers enter in search engines to find websites about their search terms. If you want to get in front of your potential audience, it’s important your web site has good search engine rankings for your keywords that are related to the theme of your website.
Keyword analysis research is important to the success of your SEO copy writing activities! Knowing what your target audience wants and how they are looking online is crucial to your website success. Optimizing your web pages for keywords that nobody uses in the search engines is useless. In addition, in order to get targeted visitors, the keywords must not be too broad or too general. The first step in successful SEO copywriting is choosing the right keywords to make them very specific to your market:
· use keyword phrases containing two to four words
· be specific – geographically, topically, or by product
· only use the keywords that are important to your web business
· avoid very competitive keywords or general keyword phrases
Use focused and targeted keyword phrases that are common enough so the web searcher will use them, but selective enough that they don't return millions of matches. For example, if you are a dog trainer in Chicago, you wouldn’t target the key phrase “dog training”, but something more specific like “Chicago dog trainer” or “dog training classes Chicago”. Very specific keywords generate highly qualified, targeted traffic that increases your sales opportunities.
Most web surfers use a two to four keyword phrase when they search online, so phrasing is very important. Single words cannot promote ranking or sell effectively, for example you wouldn’t want to target “dog” as a dog trainer in Chicago.
Avoid the most popular keyword phrases or general keyword phrases because you'll be competing with millions of other web pages for a search engine ranking. It’s unrealistic to think that a new web site could rank number one on a popular phrase like "Internet". You are better to target “Internet marketing strategies” or even better, “Internet Marketing strategies Vancouver”. More established companies who have been on the Internet for several years will have the advantage of link popularity and a high Pagerank and therefore better rankings in the search results for these broader or general keyword phrases.
By reviewing or crawling your website content and metatags, search engines will find out what your web site is about. As soon as search engines consider your web site relevant to the topic or search, the easier it is to get high rankings for your keywords and key phrases.
Keyword Elite SEO Training - How To Use Keyword Elite Seo Software To Uncover Untapped Keywords
There are numerous ways to use the powerful Keyword Elite seo software to set up profitable pay per click campaigns. This article will discuss how to use Keyword Elite SEO software to uncover untapped keywords.
There are numerous keyword tools on the market, both free and paid. Some of the common free ones are NicheBot, DigitalPoint and the Overture keyword tool, however that tool is proving to be more unreliable as time goes by.
As a result of some of the limitations of free keyword tools people are choosing paid options like KeywordDiscover, Wordtracker and Keyword Elite by Brad Callen.
While all three software programs are highly recommended there is a unique function in Keyword Elite that is not being taken full advantage of.
One of the many uses of Keyword Elite software involves using it to build highly targeted keyword lists. Usually these lists are created with the use of Overture, Yahoo, Google and Ask in this software program.
However, this program can delve into deeper to find untapped relatively hidden keywords which is hardly being used by internet marketers online.
As an example, you may be wanting to build a keyword list on psp games as a guide. People who are looking for psp games are looking for specific titles, specific psp products and accessories and psp tips.
However, I am about to disclose how you can use this keyword research tool to set up profitable pay per click campaigns faster in a niche that you aren't very familiar with.
Open the program up and choose to build a lit based on meta tags only and place as in the example above the term psp without any other keywords after it.
Run the program. You will then get a list based around numerous keywords related to psp by people who have already done the research and are very familiar with the chosen topic.
Now simply copy and paste these psp keywords straight into your pay per click campaigns and you will find a lot of hidden gold psp keywords that are relatively untapped while at the same time receiving a lot of searches.
Keyword Elite allows you to type in a bid price and get a projected position 1-10 for the bid price that you have entered. Run project 2 of Keyword Elite which is "Analyze pay per click listings". Under step 3 in that project select Google as at this point you are only concerned with Google Adwords.
Uncheck all the other options in step 4. Even though that information is actually very useful and helpful it's not necessary in order to get the information that we are after.
Under step 5 in project 2 check the Google Broad Match, Exact Mach and Phrase Match checkboxes. Then enter whatever bid price you want. Simply click okay and click on the "report view" tab and look at the Adwords information that's been uncovered. This will show you with the keyword and bid you have chosen what position you would likely be and a rough estimate of the number of clicks you could achieve per day. You will see that there are other columns "Adwords CPC phrase" and "Adwords CPC exact".
If you don't have Keyword Elite yet then download it from the website below where you will get an incredible $3210.00 on exclusive bonuses absolutely free!
Keyword Elite - Why You Should Purchase A Keyword Research Guide
Choosing the correct keywords is absolutely critical to internet marketing success. Whether you are advertising your product via Google Adwords, using articles to generate traffic to your website or performing SEO to improve your site’s search engine ranking, the keywords and key phrases you use play an enormous part in your success .
Keywords are a major part of online promotion. Adwords is based on them, search engines use them in page titles and meta tags to rank websites and Adsense uses them to target banner advertisements. Every webmaster needs to determine the proper keywords for his market. Of course, this is often easier said than done. Keywords which are searched for often are best, but the competition for them is fierce and as such tremendous cost and time are required to contend with the big players. Keywords which are searched for rarely usually offer better return on your investment, but can be painfully slow in bringing traffic and sales to your website.
There are free keyword tools, which are effective to a point. Overture’s Inventory Tool has been popular for years, but since Yahoo purchased Overture the tool is being phased out. Wordtracker is another popular keyword tool, but its accuracy has been questioned. Google has a similar tool which was created to aid Adword publishers, but it doesn’t offer numerical results. Of course, the main problem with these tools is that they are all readily available. If all your competitors have the same information you do, there is little, if any, competitive advantage that can be gained from it.
This is where Brad Callen’s Keyword Elite program comes in. While it isn’t cheap , this system offers unique software which is far more effective than any of the free tools I mentioned above. If you are currently advertising Google Adwords or wish to gain better search engine rankings and increase your Clickbank sales and or Adsense revenue, Keyword Elite is a must own product. This system helps you choose the keywords and key phrases which will help you acquire the maximum amount of targeted traffic for minimum cost.
It comes with a full money back guarantee, so you have absolutely nothing to lose. You can learn more about Keyword Elite by clicking here: http:--www.inetwk.com-keywordelite.php
Keyword Elite Review - The Power of Adwords Keyword Research Tool
If you have some experience in using Google Adwords, you know that the KEY to Adwords success is finding and using the right keywords. But question is how do you find the right keywords? The answer is with Adwords Keyword Research Tool.
One very popular Adwords Keyword Research Tool I came across is Keyword Elite, but at first I wasn't impressed with this tool because I had been using Wordtracker as my keyword research tool. The main reason I use keyword research tool is to find long-tail keywords, it saves me a lot of time compared to if I do it manually.
Both Wordtracker and Keyword Elite are very useful in generating long-tail keywords. But what made me interested to take a closer look at Keyword Elite is its ability to spy on the keywords used by your Adwords competitors. This feature is very interesting but there is much more.
In fact, Keyword Elite consists of 5 components or "project types" as they call them. Each project has its own function. The 5 Projects are:
1. Create a keyword list.
2. Analyze pay per click listings.
3. Select a keyword list.
4. Analyze keyword competition.
5. Spy on AdWords Competition.
Project 1 is creating a keyword list. There are many adwords keyword research tools available in the market that can help you develop a keyword list. What Keyword Elite does is combining all the results from these tools and put them into one alphabetized spreadsheet. And if you have subscriptions for Wordtracker and KeywordDiscovery, you can add and combine the results as well.
You can do all these manually but it will take up a lot of your time as you need to use each tool individually. With Keyword Elite, you just enter your seed keyword, select the search engines you want to get results from and hit the OK button. You can select how many results to return anywhere from 100 to 10,000 keywords. It's a real time saver as you can develop hundreds or even thousands of keywords in just few minutes. After playing around with project 1 for a while, I began to realize why it’s the top adwords keyword research tool.
Project 2 will show you some interesting data. It lets you see ads and keywords that are currently being used by your competitors. You can see the actual URLs, what ads are being run, the rankings, bid amount, and other important statistics. You use this information to spy and learn from your competitors. Pick out the top 10 competitors, study their rankings, write better ads and out-bid them. You can do all these manually but it probably takes several days. With Keyword Elite, all this information is available in just few minutes. Again, it’s a real time saver.
Project 3 gives you the ability to generate your keyword list from from existing Keyword Elite's database. If your niche subject already has a keyword list developed, you will have your list generated in a flash, just enter the key term and half of your keyword research is done. It's as simple as that.
Project 4 gives you another way to spy on the competition. Here you put in the keyword you want to analyze and request Keyword Elite to show all the sites that are advertising for the keyword. You can request up to 100 sites but normally I just request for the top 10 sites. It will provide information such as PageRank, number of words, keyword density, etc. You can use the information to analyze why these sites are at the top, what are the things they've done right to achieve top spot and optimize your own website to achieve the same result. So far I haven’t seen any adwords keyword research tool that can provide such in-depth information.
Project 5 will help any Adwords advertisers to become successful. As mentioned the key to Google Adwords success is to bid on the profitable keywords. BUT problem is... how do you know what keywords are profitable? Here you can request Keyword Elite to run a report that shows you the number of days a particular keyword has been bid on. The longer that keyword is being bid on means it's more profitable. You can run the report for days, weeks or whenever you want to see if that keyword is still being bid on.
Conclusion:
Without a doubt Keyword Elite is the top Keyword Research Tool for Adwords advertisers. It’s a very powerful software tool that goes beyond keyword research and identifying of long-tail keywords, it also allows users to spy on their competitors and perform in-depth competitive analysis. Most of the tasks described can be done manually BUT doing so will take up a lot of your time. With KE you will save a lot of time in research and analysis, it gives you more time to focus on other more important business activities. If you are serious about making money using Google Adwords, I highly recommend you to invest on this keyword research tool.

Keyword Marketing Alert - The Best Keyword Research Tool Exposed
Keyword research is a vital first step in keyword marketing. Do you do your research manually OR do you plug into keyword research software such as MicroNicheFinder to get better results faster.
What this niche-finding software does is...
1. it expands your original word into a LONG LIST of terms that searchers have actually typed into Google. Then it narrows that list down by:
2. identifying the phrases with too much COMPETITION and
3. insufficient SEARCH VOLUME.
End result: After a few minutes of using the tool, you have a profitable low-competition keyphrase that is searched often enough to make it worth your while to target. And you're in the driver's seat at every step of the way.
Here's how it goes, in a bit more detail...
GUIDE TO USING THE MICRO NICHE FINDER KEYWORD RESEARCH TOOL
It's easy.
You start with any word you like. Such as dogs, smoking, acne, vacations, etc. Type that word into MicroNicheFinder and it will deliver a long list of dozens or even hundreds of related keywords and keyword phrases. Unless, of course, your original word is really obscure - in which case you should dump it.
Next you want to choose the key phrases with the best potential so you need to get more information about all the results on your long list. Basically you want to narrow it down to the ones with the least competion - the ones that are easiest to knock off in Google and Yahoo. In MicroNicheFinder keyword software, this filtering process is done using the "Strength of Competition" indicator.
IS THERE TOO MUCH COMPETITION?
You can do the SOC check either individually or in bulk. Low SOC scores are good. They indicate a LOW volume of competition and they are tagged with a green marker , as opposed to red and yellow .
A QUESTION FOR YOU
If you've got hundreds of possible keyphrases to research, do you think you would do it? Nope. And neither would I. This sort of drudgery is just too brain frying for me.
So this keyword research tool not only saves your time -- it tells you things you just would not know otherwise.
Next, you need to select which keyphrases you want to investigate further.
This can either be done by ticking the ones you want, or selecting all then unticking the ones marked red or yellow. With these colored flags, they are easy to find.
Now you've got a short list, but you can narrow it down even more.
IS THE SEARCH VOLUME SUFFICIENT?
Next, Micro NicheFinder will go out and get the search numbers for your shortlisted key phrases. Doesn't take long at all. You can get the search count for Exact Match Count, or Broad, or both.
Deselect the phrases with insufficient search volume.
In a short while you will have all the information you need on one screen so you can easily select the best keyphrases to create your niche marketing sites for.
Micro Niche Finder is an ideal tool for keyword marketing. After you've used it, I think you will agree it's the best niche finder software available even though it's only half the price of other keyword software.
ACTION PLAN
Okay, so what are you going to do with the profitable low-competition keyphrases you find with MicroNicheFinder? Here's an action plan so you can get started straightaway.
1. Go to Squidoo and make a lens . FREE.
2. Go to Hubpages and make a hub . FREE.
3. Go to Clickbank and find a profitable affiliate product to promote at your new site. FREE.
Is Micro Niche Finder the best keyword research tool?
Does this sound like something you could do? Type in a word... deselect the high competition keyphrases... deselect the phrases with only a few searches... then take your pick from the resulting short list. If so, you are going to love using this.
Keyword research with Micro Niche Finder is not only faster, it's also better. So click on over to http:--micro-niche-finder-guide.blogspot.com and follow the links to the free videos -- they show you how to create FIVE PROFIT STREAMS. It's good stuff. Take a peek now while it's fresh on your mind.
Top Keyword Tools to Help You Do Keyword Research Online
If you an Internet marketer, then there is no need to tell you how important keyword tools are. Without doing keyword research, you set yourself to failure, because in order to get traffic, you need to optimize your content targeting specific keywords. However, which keywords are good, and which ones you should target? I don't have answer to that, but keyword tools have. That's why you must use them.
There is quite a big choice in different keyword tools. Most of them are free, however they don't provide as much value as paid ones. In most of the cases, using a free keyword tool is ok, but if you are a serious marketer, then you should consider purchasing a professional keyword software.
In this article, I will tell you about 2 most popular, free keyword tools, which are widely used to online marketers all over the world to help them do keyword research. So here we go.
Wordtracker Keyword Tool
Using this keyword tool, you can only find out little details about a keyword, such as how many times it gets searched in one day and that's it. Wordtracker also may be useful to find some long-tail keywords, but apart from these two features, there isn't anything else good about this tool. It's simple and easy to use.
Google Keyword Tool
Well, this one compared to Wordtracker tool has many advantages. By using Google's keyword tool, you can find out daily searches, monthly searches, average searches and much more on different keywords. Plus it shows how competitive a specific keyword is and other statistical data. For me, this one is the best free keyword tool, however, I don't use it often, because I have purchased a more professional keyword software.
I agree that there are many other free keyword tools available online, but if you would ask me, which are the best free keyword tools, I would mention Wordtracker and Google. They might not provide as much value as paid software, but if you don't want to spend cash, then these are great.
Keyword Research - How to Create a Highly Effective Keyword List
Part 1
Recently I was asked to optimize a site selling Spanish T-Shirts to attract lots of traffic from the search engines. Without traffic your site won't make any sales. Of the other hand getting lots of traffic does not guarantee sales if your web copy is lousy. There are many factors that should be considered when you optimize your web site. For my example site to optimize I chose Wild Lily Designs, a site that specializes in selling Spanish Shirts.
Here are the steps I took to optimize the site:
1. Create a keyword list
Write down all the keywords related to the topic of your site. Try to also include keyword phrases. ie T-Shirts, Spanish Shirts, Spanish Apparel, Spanish Clothing.
There are probably millions of web sites selling T-Shirts therefore you need to narrow your focus. This is why Spanish Shirts or Spanish T-Shirts would a better niche because it wouldn't be as competitive. If your niche is too competitive you will have a difficult time getting high rankings. Ideally you want your site to appear on the first page for one of the major search engines...Google, MSN or Yahoo.
2. Find related keywords
These are words that are similar to the main keyword list you created above. You may be able to incorporate them into the content of your site as it grows. Keywords that have a very narrow focus ie Spanish T-Shirts, may not be a popular search term. If I broaden my search to include "Spanish" or "T-Shirt" I will find hundreds of words that relate to these topics.
Use a theosaurus dictionary or thesaurus.com to find similar words besides your main keywords. Another great free tool to brainstorm related keywords is the Google AdWords Keyword Tool .
Here is the list of similar keywords generated when I inserted "spanish shirts" in the Google AdWords Keyword Tool:
madrid shirts language tee shirts spain shirt spanish shirt shirts in spanish spanish shirts spanish t shirts real madrid shirt spanish english dictionary spanish apparel sign language shirt language shirts madrid t shirts shirt in spanish hispanic t shirt spain t shirt language apparel hispanic shirts sign language t shirt madrid t shirt real madrid t shirts language t shirts sign language shirts language shirt shirts spanish sign language t shirts spanish t shirt real madrid merchandise i love shirts hispanic t shirts long sleeve shirts spain t shirts t shirts in spanish madrid shirt
From this list you get both the singular and plural forms of the keywords. You may also want to include madrid shirts, madrid t-shirt, spanish shirts.
To find out how often people are searching on these keywords you need to use keyword tools. I use a combination of both free and paid tools.
Part 2 of this article will discuss how I used Wordtracker, one of the most effective keyword tools on the Net, to decide if I should use spanish shirts as the main keyword phrase for Wild Lily Designs the example site I am optimizing.

Keyword Excavator - LSI Keyword Research Software Tool Review
Keyword Excavator is a new Latent Semantic Analysis tool from Jos Jongejan. I'd like to share with you some the many exciting features of this powerful software.
The first step in using Keyword Excavator after installation is to log in. Since this software is on your hosting server having a login requirement is a good idea for security purposes.
After that you're presented with a place to input your keyword phrase and excavate on either Google, Yahoo, MSN live, or using a URL or even copying and pasting the contents of an article. You type in your keyword phrase and then you have an opportunity to select the language and the country typically what I do is select English and the United States as this is my main market. I then click on the button that says, "Dig Me Up Some Keywords!". After that Keyword Excavator goes to work.
The amount of information you will get back is extremely amazing so give the software time to work its magic. The first thing you will see will be the latent semantic analysis summary which shows your key phrase, the language that you chose, the country that you chose, the search engine that you chose, etc.
The table below that then shows you a variety of different information from multiple search engines and also shows you a large number of narrower searches where you start to get into your 3, 4 and 5 word phrases, the Google advertisers for the key phrase with the actual ads they are right in a small window for you to see.
As we move down we have another incredible table to look at. This particular table shows you the top 20 sites for the key phrase that you chose. The table also show you at a glance such useful information as page rank, whether or not the key words are in the URL, whether the keywords are in the domain name or the keywords are in the title, the word count of the homepage, the key phrase count of the homepage, and the key phrase weight on the home page.
In addition to all this information the very next thing you'll see is something extremely useful and that is a series of graphs. The first graph shows the Google page rank on the y-axis and the search engine position on the x-axis. The next graph shows Yahoo back links on the y-axis and the search engine rank or position on the x-axis.
This is very interesting information. I was surprised to see many sites without high page rank in the top 10 sites for my chosen key phrase. The next graph shows the page word count in relation to the search engine position this seems very interesting because you may find a data correlation here and any correlation is information you may be able to use to increase your ranking .
The next graph we see the page keyword count on the y-axis in the search engine position on the x-axis. As we move down the page we see page keyword weight on the y-axis and the search engine position on the x-axis. When they said that a picture is worth a thousand words look at these graphs and you can see at a glance what may or may not make a difference in your rankings. Just being able to see what the top sites all have in common is extremely valuable. There are also additional graphs that provide an even greater level of detail.
How To Do Keyword Research With Google's External Keyword Tool
Google's External Keyword Tool is a great resource that I use a lot when trying to get a feel for a new niche and for good keywords to use in that niche. What I like about Google's tool is it's flexibility. You can type in a less specific keyword and it will return you a whole list of more specific keywords. You can also type in the URL of a website and Google's tool will tell you what keywords it "sees" that website optimized for.
When you get your results you'll see the results in columns labeled "Advertiser Competition", "Search Volume", " and finally "Avg Search Volume."
"Advertiser Competition" is basically a guide to how competitive a given keyword is. The more colored the bar, the more competitive. "Search Volume" is just that, search volume compared with all other terms that Google tracks. Note: Search volume is for a given month. "Average Search Volume" is a 12-month average.
The bars are not comparisons. Google says they are "quantitative measures", but you can only get a gut feel for how many searches are done, or what the competition is.
Unfortunately, there's no good way to get solid numbers about how many times a certain keyword phrase is searched without using a paid tool, like WordTracker. So you have to basically use your head.
You can, however, sort these lists by the three column heads. Just click on "Advertiser Competition" for instance, and your list will be sorted by that. Or you can sort it by search volume.
What should you be looking for here?
That all depends on your goals. If your paying for your traffic through a pay per click type program, then you would want to look for keywords that have less advertiser competition. If your doing what I normally do, which is get your traffic through search engine optimization, then you'll want to go for keywords that get a lot of search volume.
One feature I really love about Google's external tool is the "Website Content" feature.
If you want to send traffic to your site with PPC, then it's very important that Google see your site and your landing page as relevant to the ad you write. Otherwise you can see your cost per click go through the roof! A great way to keep this from happening is to run your website through this tool!
Think about it! When Google returns a list of keywords to you that it's found on your site, there's a very good probability that they think those keywords are relevant to the content of the site.
In other words, those keywords are less likely to have their prices jacked up by Google.

How the Free Google External Keyword Tool Changed Keyword Research
Google has just upgraded the AdWords External Keyword Tool so that it now also shows Search Volumes for the Keywords it returns during keyword research. As Google is the biggest source of keyword search phrases, due to the fact that it is the dominant search engine used by web surfers, this news is extremely significant.
Until now most internet and affiliate marketers will have used paid keyword research tools such as Wordtracker, Keyword Discovery, Wordze and Keyword Elite to find the keyword phrases that internet users are searching for. However these tools only gather information on a very small fraction of the actual searches performed. Google on the other hand has direct access to a massive number of real searches in comparison.
These paid keyword research services try and predict the total searches for each keyword by extrapolating their data, but the numbers returned cannot be considered accurate in any way at all. But because these tools were the only way to get any significant data they were relied on by many if not most internet marketers.
The Google AdWords external keyword tool has changed all this as it now displays key phrase search volumes that are not calculated, but which are taken directly from real search volume data gathered by Google from their own search engine. Now anyone performing keyword research can get all the data they need directly from Google, which will be much more accurate than that provided by the paid keyword research services.
The best part of this news is that Google now provides all this new information for free. Although the external keyword tool is provided for affiliate marketers using AdWords to promote products and services, it is available free to everyone. If you know the link URL then you can use this tool for free.
Many top internet marketers in the industry are claiming this as the biggest thing that has happened to internet marketing for a very long time. For once it seems that Google is giving something back. Of course there are also many cynics out there who question why Google has done this and there are others who question the accuracy of the search data Google has revealed. Early checks have shown that in may cases the data is fairly accurate, but only time will tell as more analysis on these new results is completed.
The other fact that is important to remember is that there is also a free version of this for each geographic country location, such as the UK or Australia, so keyword search volumes are now also available for country specific keyword research. So for UK keyword research, the Google external AdWords keyword tool is now the best keyword research software currently available.
This is extremely useful as the paid keyword research tools are not good at providing this localized information and remember again that it is free!
Are 3rd Party Keyword Research Tools Worth It? A Keyword Elite Review
Keyword Research for Google AdWords or other Pay Per Click campaigns requires a great deal of time compiling lists and analyzing data and for me involved several different tools. For people like me who deal with PPC on a daily basis, anything that can reduce the time it takes to research keywords and arrive at an effective list is a welcome addition.
In the search for a comprehensive tool that could handle all of the tasks that are performed during keyword research, I came across several options beyond just the free tools offered by Google, Yahoo! and others . Other paid options were looked at as well such as Nichebot , Keyword Discovery and Wordtracker . Having had some bad reliability “incidents” with hosted software, I personally tend to stay away from those solutions.
Knowing what it takes to research keywords in a comprehensive and ultimately profitable way, I decided to use the following criteria for the tool I was interested in finding:
A Must be able to research keywords on all relevant search engines for a complete keyword profile
B Must compile as much data on competition as possible including, at the very least: KEI, Number of Searches, Number of competing sites, and Average Cost Per Click for each position.
C Must be able to research keywords on ALL Google match types .
D Must have outstanding sorting capability for the large amounts of keywords that I work with and the ability to quickly filter out unwanted keywords from the results.
E Must NOT be a hosted application . As I mentioned above, if my bottom line is directly affected by my ability to research keywords, I don't want to have to rely on hosting to allow my software to work .
Knowing what the Google results looked like for “keyword research tools”, I turned to my fellow AdWords marketers for suggestions. The one that came up over and over again was Keyword Elite sold by Brad Callen, a well know SEO and search marketing professional.
Right off the bat I was assaulted by ad copy right on the front page of the site. Not good. Ironically, I don’t’ care much for sites like this but since the recommendations were from people I trusted I wound up checking out the video demonstrations. That’s when I decided to pick up a copy. Even if it’s not the right product for you, I recommend watching these short videos as a way to streamline your own keyword research process.
With regards to the criteria above, this is how Keyword Elite stacked up:
A Variety of Search Options
Google, Yahoo!, Ask and even Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery .
B Quality of Keyword Research Data
Keyword Elite surpassed my expectations here. The data that can be used for competitive and cost analysis is outstanding. KEI, Results-Searches Ratio, CPC, Estimated Clicks, Number of Active Campaigns. It does this across Google, Yahoo!, Miva and Enhance. What really impressed me however is that the software goes one step further. It actually allows you to monitor your competitor’s ads with time stamping, view those ads, the sites they point to AND how well optimized that page is for certain keywords .
C Search All Match Types
Keyword Elite will not only search these formats for you, it can also format your keyword lists with the parentheses and brackets for “phrase” and “exact” match with one click. This is a significant time saver if you’ve ever done this by hand .
D Flexible Sorting Capabilities
When you research keywords, you want all the time savers you can get. Keyword Elite delivers here with some flexible and easy to use sorting. Alphabetical, Word Counts, User text input are all available. Filter results you don't want by simply typing them in . Show keywords that only contain a certain phrase. Eliminate unwanted characters. Append additional words to your entire lists quickly .
I want to mention here the exporting you can do with these results in Keyword Elite. Most programs allow you kick out a text file of your words. This software goes a step further and allows you to actually create your ad groups and ads right from the interface and upload them directly to your Google AdWords account. You don’t even have to open a browser and navigate the Google AdWords process to create these things. You also have the ability to pull up the top ads right into the editor to see what your competition is using. Very powerful.
E Software Installs Locally
When you research keywords, you need access at all times. You never know when a campaign is going to need to be tweaked. Depending on which keyword research tool you use, hosted applications may not be able to handle transactions under heavy load causing slow response times .
Side note: If You use AdSense...
An interesting feature of Keyword Elite is the ability to create AdSense web pages with only a few clicks. Keyword Elite will allow you to grab free articles from one of the aggregator's and instantly format it in a ready to go AdSense page. Google doesn't appreciate this too much but the functionality is there.
Conclusion
To sum things up, Keyword Elite has fundamentally changed the way I approach keyword research. Not only has it cut down the time it takes to research keywords, it has provided me with a competitive edge from the data and results it provides. It has a bit of a higher price point than other tools but once you purchase, there are no other costs and, comparatively, it costs about half of a year’s subscription to Wordtracker.
My one wish for improvement with this software would be its underlying structure. It is a modular build in that all functions run independently. Keyword Elite has help alleviate this somewhat by using "right click" menus to add selected results to the next part of the research phase. A small quirk that in my opinion, is more than offset by other unique and powerful tools.
Keyword Research Tips - Word Tracker Versus Yahoo Keyword Suggestion Tool
In order to find profitable niche markets, use search engine optimization, and set up pay per click advertising campaigns you need to search for popular keywords and find out statistics using keyword research tools.
Because the Yahoo Keyword Suggestion Tool is free most people decide to use it for their keyword research but its not as accurate as Word Tracker.
This is because many rank checkers and bid management tools search Yahoo to find their results and this causes the numbers to be artificially inflated, especially for popular keywords, which can give the impression that some keywords are more popular than they actually are.
It also does not separate plural and singular versions of keywords so you will need to manually add plural versions because they are used separately and give different results when you search for them using most search engines.
If you want accurate results and detailed statistics you should consider using a more advanced keyword research tool called Word Tracker which has many essential features which will save you a lot of time and effort.
The most useful feature will provide you with a list of similar keywords that bear any relation to your search query. These keywords are worth targeting and many will turn out to be very profitable.
There is also a competition search that will help you find keywords with less competition which are easier to achieve high rankings for, allowing you to gain more traffic for less work.
Word Tracker is an invaluable tool for your search engine optimization plan and pay per click advertising campaign and it will make your research a lot easier while giving you an advantage over everyone who uses the Yahoo Keyword Suggestion Tool.
There is actually a free keyword research tool provided by Digital Point that will search both Word Tracker and Yahoo Keyword Suggestion Tool together and show the results side by side so that you can clearly see the difference between the two.
